Elderflower Cordial
This delicious elderflower cordial is so easy to make at home. It has a delicate sweetness with citrus and floral notes, and is a perfect refreshment on a warm summer day. If you can get your hands on some elderflower blooms you're most of the way there to making a delicious cordial.
It's perfect added to water or sparkling water, add it to cocktails, or even use it as a syrup over a dessert!
Ingredients:
Makes approximately 1.5 Litres.
- 15 elderflower heads
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 25g (2 tablespoons) citric acid
- 1.25lt (5 cups) water, boiled and cooled a little
- 500g (2 1/2 cups) sugar
Method:
- Put the elderflower heads into a large pot.
- Add the lemon slices.
- Pour over the water and leave to steep over night.
- Strain the liquid into a clean pot.
- Add the sugar and citric acid and gently bring to the boil.
- Simmer for a couple of minutes.
- Pour into sterilised bottles.
- Serve cooled and diluted with water or soda water. Enjoy!
